Atmospheric River December 4 to Dec 6

The RDKB EM Program is monitoring the incoming Atmospheric River, which is forecasted to start this evening and last into the evening of December 6th. Currently, the forecast stands at:

Boundary:
10-20 mm of Rain over the event
0-6cm of Snow over the event
Snow Level between 1000m – 2000m
The snowpack in the boundary is roughly 30 cm in the alpine.
This weather event will likely be a rain-on-snow event, the forecast for the streams shows levels less than a one-year return.

West Kootenays:
35-50 mm of Rain over the event
0cm of Snow over the event
Snow Level between 1000m – 2000m
The snowpack in the boundary is roughly 30 cm in the alpine.
This weather event will likely be a rain-on-snow event, the forecast for the streams shows levels less than a one-year return.

Currently, the Atmospheric River will make landfall at an AR4 level and will likely reach the RDKB at an AR1 for the Boundary and AR1-AR2 for the West Kootenays.
